Brexit was fuelled by fear and hate...that should not

Politicians would do or say what is needed to "please"people... even if that means  incentivizing racism, xenophobia or the marginalization of one part of the population.. just looking for their own objectives and agenda. To reach a position of leadership.
Theresa May's recent message regarding EU citizens rights in UK is unsettling for any person with a minimum of conscience. European citizens living in Britain don't deserve this kind of treatment. I mean this is reinforcing the ugly and false message that gave the edge to leave side, in the EU referendum.
What gave the "victory" to Brexit was not a democratic conscience...  but was in fact the other way around.. the lack of it. The majority of people knew very little about EU, besides the crazy idea the EU was ruling their lives and that the foreigners were taking their jobs.    The process of brainwashing here in UK has been massive.  Government and certain politic groups used EU and foreigners  as escape goat in a way to keep the population distracted... Blinding people to the faults of their own government...  For example to the fact that their own government has been disregarding their rights and interests...
"WE're out of the EU -World's most successful newspapers crusade ends in glorious victory"... This was a title in an Edition of Daily Express, one of the publications that unfortunately have been contributing to form the opinion of some British... Through repetition of blatant propaganda..

Uk has one of the best rates of employment in EU, even like that parts of the society started to express feelings of hate and discrimination to foreigners.. To the point that now some citizens would be happy and rejoice
to see European citizens, that lived here for several years and brought up families, contributing very positively to British society to go.. By contrast other European countries already expressed good feelings regarding British people living there (Germany and France for e.g.).
But as many people already said the British government  seems to be using EU citizens here as "bargaining chips"...
Bear in mind that the same rules that protect EU citizens are the same ones that protect British citizens at every level...

I would like to see the British politics to act in a responsible manner...promoting positive feelings, and a society of integration... Not demagogically putting at risk the lives and future of people.
You can not blame one little fraction of the society for the problems of a all population. Specially when you are talking about a group people that are good payers, and are contributing at various levels very positively to our society.

THE RESULTS OF BRITISH EU Referendum

No real Surprises in Britsh EU referendum

This was a completely expected result,in my view. Why? Because great part of the population here believes in the myth that EU was controlling their country...
And that almost all problems in their society and lives were directly linked with EU "impositions"(jobs, immigration, foreigners etc).  Even that their sovereignty was under threat.. An inconceivable idea that can just be understood in the context of how much British politics and government have been using this idea for their own "profit", agendas...
Traditionally
UK has always been the less pro EU country in Europe. Generally defending interests that affect their own industry in favor of certain foreigner lobbies in areas like environment, agricultural production (including GMos). Obviously this is the side that the majority of people in UK don't get to know or accept. Besides that a popular press with titles like "daily mail" have  been doing a harmful and constant propaganda against EU and foreigner people (making generalizations from particular cases). Creating the type of messages that explores the fears and stimulates the most negative feelings in people ( the same line that benefits the extreme right parties in all Europe, and others like Fn in France with Marie le Pen, or UKip in Uk). In times of crisis people can easily buy and believe in these ideas because they are so simple and seem to offer a straight explanation.
I was gobsmacked when PM David Cameron proposed the referendum and started to campaign for the remain, because in fact he has never been pro Europe... Probably the broken situation in his party and the feeling that there was nothing to loose once that everything was lost already (regarding the possibility of himself being elected again) made him go ahead. The timing for the campaign was really bad (for UK and EU),if we take in account the historical circumstances.
There is even the possibility that this referendum was intentionally set up for failure if we take in account how short was the preparation and how bad the campaign was done, without almost no focus in the positive aspects of EU membership. The general public was not informed for example how much farms, education, industries and cultural initiatives in UK have already benefitted from EU.

European referendum in uk

European referendumt in the U.K. ... No great surprises here in my point of view... In ten years living in this country never ever  heard a word of good about of Europe

Sadly the British public has been completely fooled regarding the role of EU and influence in their country.  In fact EU produced a body of regulations and laws that protects more British citizens (regarding human, labour rights and environment ) than their own government.  That doesn't mean that the government is following or applying them... but at least a citizen or a organisation has always another option if is victim or object of injustice.  And that will be obviously gone if the decision to leave is the one followed by UK.
A publication like "daily mail" has been doing a constant negative propaganda about European Community, and for many people that is unfortunately their only source of "information" regarding this issue. There usually specific cases are used to make generalisations, what is manipulative and dangerous at various levels. Incentivising and feeding feelings of discrimination towards some groups of our society.

This is a very important time in the History of Europe and World... a time to work together and to look for solutions. Western countries should and need to take action, regarding the humanitarian crisis of refugees and migrants. Specially the countries that were involved in wars in the middle East..., and went there more motivated by economic interests (the control of prices of oil and access to resources, fossil fuel..) than effectively democracy or justice. Besides all the complaints,UK is the country who has taken less refugees ( from the group of leading economies in Europe).

The timing for a referendum about Europen membership is bad and irresponsible... For several years people here UK have been brainwashed by popular press against EU... Instigating fear and hatred feelings. What is really easy to explore and pent up in times of economic and social perceived crisis. When in reality citizens need to be aware of responsibilities and actions of their own government. Many times the British position in EU has been of "resistance" and lobbying for interests that don't benefit their own citizens or economy... favouring for example GMOs and an easy entry of agricultural production of USA in the European market. Uk also disagreed with majority of countries in EU, regarding a regulation that would protect european industry and production.   What would be pertinent with situations like the cheap subsidised steel, and solar panels from China...
Instead British government has campaigned there in a way that damages the  chances of survival of their own industries like for example British steel industry...

Uk is one of the most important economies of EU and could have had a decisive and even leading role in the process of development of EU, if really was committed to it, instead of looking for the interests of a few private corporations.  And ironically if Uk leaves the EU the identity and sovereignty  of the country will  more under threat, because the government will tend look and establish deals with countries like China and USA in a way that essentially will benefit the interests of a little group and not the national production, companies, or citizens.  Obviously at that time there wouldn't be in place norms to protect British people or companies. Once that norms from EU are "no more in the way"...

There is no doubt that economically the impact of leaving EU will be negative for both sides.
Also important to remember is that almost every sector of activity from UK till here received funds from EU,for various initiatives. Special attention to agriculture and education. Saying this because till now never heard in the various arguments and propaganda a unique reference about this.
Several institutions for example offered free formations under these programs. And amazingly the campaign to remain rarely said something about this.

Obviously no organisation is perfect, and the fact that EU got together so many countries is in itself a feat.

Groupon...ugh experience

BAD experience at Groupon...ugh..

Can imagine that if you use groupon deals often maybe this experience already happened to you.. A voucher that expired.  Somehow  this situation just happened to me...
And I just tought..and now what to do... Called them (with some suspicion that they wouldn't give anything back-just because here in the UK this company can get away legally? to "cash" your money of expired vouchers!! Contrary to what happen in the USA). In the phone when I asked the guy/person from Groupon what would happen to the money that I spent?.. Was informed that I couldn't get it back..'this is not fair" I said with some indignation when I realised that the money  would be "lost"- in my view "robedd"-,  ... He said to me that money would go to the charity!... (Is this a joke or true...hard to believe really... I guess probably they are just cash it from the 15% percent of their costumers (the number of people that let their Groupon vouchers expire..).
Ok the reality is people paid for those vouchers...and they are not even able, here in UK,to get their money back or add it to next purchase, even in Groupon site. That to me and to many people is completely wrong. I think consumers need to be protected here. Something needs to be done to avoid this situation.
Why is this company protected in UK... At least we costumers should have the same rights as Groupon costumers in the USA.

I would like some instituions who protect consumers to have a look and take action regarding this
scenario...

Because of this I will avoid deals with this company Groupon. Even their tecnologic deals can be matched in other online sites with better price and warranties just coming to my mind ipads and iphones for example).
Like the case of Ebay where you can just buy an iphone with 1year warranty  for oposition of the Groupon deal, where normally you just get a month of warranty...

People here in Uk always complain about E.U.rulling everything ( even if not true) but I wonder why consumer rights in this case have been forgoten..

The reality is Groupon will do everything to not give your money back,... I still can not believe that in UK costumers don't have any protection regarding this issue-when your voucher expires your money is lost,I would say robbed  with the consent of the law (just because they wrote in their terms and conditions that once your voucher expire you can not use it any more).  Contacting Citizens Advice Bureau, was informed that little could be done (in fact that was a kind of answer already expected...evoking the terms of contract. But in fact I can not remember anything there saying that Groupon is allowed to "steal",retain the money from expired vouchers.... Any way even if that was the case, should not be allowed or considered legal...). I think UK is too much permissive in this cases, allowing certain companies harm completely the basic rights of consumers and citizens..
That they wouldn't do it and can't in their original country, why should they be allowed to play around here... No wonder some american companies just use UK as their playground...

GROUPON....Arghh...bad,bad,when things go bad...

Sometimes they are able to offer some good deals locally (people need to increase their business) but if you let your voucher expire, they purely cash your money, and unfortunately the consumer institutions haven't moved a finger yet..regarding the issue...for me this pure robbery :(

...Control...

Always amazes me how British people are so critical about i.d. cards and European Community,
"fearing" to loose their freedom and identity... When I think about these issues always comes to my mind the prophetic masterpiece (in my point of view) from Aldous Huxley, the "Brave New World". How so much right he was,and how he could preview/see ahead of his time. In fact people (us) never been so much controlled and scanned in their moves as in the present times. Every communication that we do trough mobile phone, internet is screened and tracked. We live in the illusion that we are free... banks and credit cards companies got more information about ourselves than we can even remember. Shops and services in most of the cases always ask (demand) contact numbers, address - post code etc. Governments and other institutions got  easy access to our moves...we can even be tracked by satellite!... even if "this people " is always saying: " Oh no...never we will never do that..that is not legal..." just someone very naif would believe that.
Is enough just to remember the recent cases and polemic with the U.S.A. (and U.K.)spy services,to have a little hint till where our freedom and privacy of the common citizen is respected!..  :-)
I will advise strongly as a kind o "reflection" a read or re-read of the Brave New World from Aldous Huxley.
We are tracked permanently by any kind of organization (commercial/public/governmental etc).
Because of that i.d.cards are just a little issue,if we think well..."they" got much more information than that about our lives. We live in the illusion that our privacy has been respected...or even that we live in a true free democratic society...
At almost every second we are trading information about our moves and habits. Sometimes is hard to find a balance between technology, information and privacy.

A great experience that I like to do every once in a while is to have a day without mobile phone or  a similar "gadget"... If you are a big fan or addicted to your mobile phone, who will see how much peace and tranquility will bring to your life... even if at the first you find yourself a bit unsettled.

GMO'S craapp!..

Critic

Mmmh… I like good food. But also I like to know what I’m eating. The G.M. lobby is again on the “attack “.  And seems like some of the British farmers and supermarkets are willing to embrace the “New brave World”. Maybe in the short time this seems like a good business (financially speaking). Specially if there is a nice sponsorship from some biotech giants from U.S.A (“naturally”).
There are no precise and effective regulations regarding GMOs . From the begging of this kind of production, (FDA) scientists warned about the need of extensive (long term) studies, regarding the effect in human beings. Which in fact is not been done…GMOs (genetically modified organisms can create unpredictable (“hard to detect side effects”). Experiences done in laboratory, with rats, have shown alarming effects (from sterilization, toxic, allergic reactions, weakening of immune system and the developing of lethal diseases…)   As consumers We have the right to know what we are buying, and to have a choice. I ” wonder” why  ,stubbornly, some British supermarkets insist in not labelling the foods and products that (evidently) contain GMOS…  Maybe because instinctively (and wisely), lots of people would avoid them!
What is important to know is that scientists and biotech companies don’t create (and are unable) the original/wild seed… What they do is manipulation (even transferring genes across natural species barriers). In long term no one knows the end result of this (besides great mutations and unpredictability).
Studies have shown that many people  have allergic reactions to Gm soy, but not the natural one
Why some farmers would like to produce this kind of crops, because (they have been advertised as a miracle and the “future”..) because they have been developed to be herbicide tolerant (in many cases), surviving to the use of strong herbicides! Even some GMs produce their own herbicide. These products are strongly branded, and in no way promote the bio diversity and independence of farmers. These crops are normally sterile (and can in many cases affect fertile crops around by cross-pollination).
Any way there are new hopes and different ways of doing things. Scientists from the National Institute of Agriculture Botany in Cambridge (U.K.) were able to produce a new variety of wheat without modifying the genetics of the grain. A new breed that can be crossed with modern UK varieties ( and having the interesting qualities of drought tolerance and disease resistant).
Contrary to what brands (supermarket-companies) say there are no serious/independent trials of GM foods.
